June 18th, 2007 this precious lil guy that we'd already loved for months, from the other side of the world....
...we finally got to meet in person:
To say that the Lord has used this precious guy to bless us...
So...how to celebrate the important anniversary that this is for Daniel and our family?
Well, first Daniel got to open one of the presents that we bought on our last trip to China to celebrate these family days (we bought enough to give to the children each year until they turn 18).
He is calling it his "Treasure Chest"!
And then Daniel got to pick out where we ate supper that night.

Where else? The "Car Place", as my children refer to this cool restaurant:
Here is Daniel super-cool posing in front of some of the actual former racing uniforms they have hanging around the restaurant (he's standing up in our booth, btw):
Yes, this was the restaurant that we ran into - and later out of - like raving lunatics because it was pouring rain outside...and that only added to the fun of this special day!

Happy "Daniel Day", buddy - we love you so much, and we're so glad that we get to be your mama and daddy!
awwww. Happy Daniel day! We call our " gotcha days' our kiddos names too. LOVE your idea about buying the gifts and giving it to them on their day. What a great idea. Think we need to start that tradition. Now we just need to figure out how to bring back enough gifts for our 6 adopted little ones to get them through to their 18th bdays! Wish I'd have been able to mooch that idea from you years ago. I never seem to do things the easy way. ;)

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, happy Daniel Day! I just happened on your blog from Sunday Snapshot, and seeing the restaurant, I think we may live in the same general area. Small world! :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Daniel Day! Love how you call the day by the child's name. Hadn't thought of that before. I too, purchased gifts while traveling, but only enough for the first 10 years. Hope to go back to Guatemala in the next few years though, so I can finish what I started!
