Implant Insertion Today

Today we're headed to our children's clinic in the state just south of us.

Daniel is having a follow-up with his ped. ENT to ensure that his hearing loss is stable.

Lily Kay is have a routine follow-up with her ped. Endocrinologist and then...her implant is going to be inserted on the back of one of her arms.

She has been (inexplicably) excited about this for weeks. Maybe she has been excited because she knows this means she won't have to have quarterly IM shots in her leg anymore. (Oh, how she detests these shots...and understandably so!)

But just last night she started to become anxious about the insertion. She has questions about how they're going to do it...and I (bad mama) don't have the answers. I know they are going to anesthetize her somehow so that the insertion won't hurt. But that anesthetization may mean a shot. (I learned a long time ago to not promise my children they won't get (insert unpleasant thing HERE, like "a shot"), because plans change, and I was tired of looking like a liar to my children!)

Anyhow, LK is anxious about this procedure this afternoon (Elisabeth keeps calling it a "surgery", which probably isn't helping!)...and I look forward to being on the other side of it!
