Have I mentioned lately how much I adore this group of women that I'm blessed to be able to call friends? Well, yes, I have. But I want to talk about them again...
Alison was in charge of our activities for December, and she did a bang-up job coordinating our Christmas Party. (Although she would tell you she didn't...she's super-humble that way!)
First, instead of exchanging gifts among us (as we've done in some years past)...the Lord gave Alison a great idea that would benefit a local benevolence ministry. She took the song "The 12 Days of Christmas" and changed the words....
"On the 1st day of Christmas we gave to those in need...
A fruit cup with peaches and pears."
BTW - We brought "5 Baking Beans" (sung to the tune of "5 Golden Rings")
(Singing our new version of "The 12 Days of Christmas")
At the party, the children also made ornaments (under the direction of my dear friend Amy who is super-talented and creative).

Here is Noah proudly displaying his finished product:
This was such a cute idea...and such a keepsake!
Mary, Joseph and Jesus are made out of the children's fingerprints! (This was done on a piece of laminate sample, btw, that Amy picked up from Lowe's and spray painted beforehand.)

And, of course, we ended the party by breaking bread together...
...and pizza...
...and sandwiches...
...and chips....
...and brownies...
...and apple slices...
...and cut-up raw veggies...
....AND, this precious cake that Tracey made (I'm surrounded by super-talented girls!):
It has been a fantastic first half of the school year...and our group already has several really neat, really BIG (read: Legoland!) activities planned for the 2nd half of the school year!

We are blessed!
Fun HS Christmas party! How wonderful to end the first half of the school year like that!
ReplyDeleteI just read your "Open Hands" post, and it made me teary for you all, but you are so right - God's timing is perfect! And you will look back one day and say that when you finally have your precious little son in your arms!
Love you guys,
janet, kevin, ted, sophia, philip, and elijah
