Noah's Annual Cardiologist Visit

Friday Noah and I headed to his annual appointment with his cardiologist. Once a year (in the summer) we see his Electrophysiologist (the "Electrician"), and once a year (in the winter) we see his Cardiologist (the "Plumber").

Well, it was time to see the Plumber!

These appointments are like old hat now...they follow a very predictable routine:

First, the nurse takes vitals, like weight (46 lb), and height (45 1/3 in) and blood pressure (101/68)...

and heart rate (74 bpm, a little higher than his pacemaker is set, he was a little nervous)...

and they checked his blood oxygen level (it bounced around all over the 90s).

Then a technician comes in to do an EKG....

...and then we wait...

...and then we go to another room for another technician to do an Echocardiogram...

(Noah was very interested to watch as she performed the echo. He also had fun listening to me tell stories about how bad he used to behave when he had EKGs and echos, neither of which hurt...but you'd have thought they were trying to kill him!)

...and then we wait some more...
And THEN...

Dr. E came in and told us that Noah looks great! After two open-heart surgeries (when he was one and two-years old) Noah's heart is now configured quite differently. He has what is called a Modified Extra-Cardiac Conduit Fontan. But Dr. E said that for a Fontan patient, you just could not ask for better. Now that is what I like to hear!

That is my Noah...

...the overachiever!
