Wordless Wednesday: Snickerdoodles

O.k. - so this is not totally wordless...I have to post the recipe:

Snickerdoodles
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. evaporated cane juice
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. freshly milled whole wheat flour (I used soft white wheat berries)
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

2 tbsp evaporated cane juice
2 tbsp cinnamon

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Combine flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Slowly add to the wet mixture. Roll dough into balls the size of walnuts, about 1 inch. Combine sugar and cinnamon and roll balls in cinnamon/sugar mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased sheet or baking stone. Bake 8-10 minutes at 400 degrees. Enjoy!

  1. Awesome! I love that you had E grate the cinnamon instead of just opening a bottle. I don't know if you always use the fresh stuff, but I think it's so important that the kids see where stuff comes from (not just bottles!) And the cookies look amazing! We'll be trying them. Thanks for sharing your "words" this Wednesday!

  2. I think it is important for them to see that too, Cara! I think this was the first and last time we'll grate cinnamon sticks into powder though - it took forever! But that was exactly why I had ordered the sticks through our co-op...so the kids could see what cinnamon looks like. They'd been looking at me like I was green when I tried to explain that cinnamon was the bark of a tree!
