New era

Our children moved up to their new Sunday School classes today.

They are in 4 consecutive "grades" for these purposes, based upon their ages.

So, LK moved up and now has Daniel's teachers from last year...Daniel now has Noah's teachers from last year...Noah now has Elisabeth's teacher from last year...and Libeth is leading the way with a whole new teacher this year (although it is a woman that the children already know and love at church, Mrs. Libby).

They've been talking about this for weeks...and getting excited (although Noah said he was a bit "anxious" also, which is understandable).

But of course, Miss Lily Kay did not really understand what was going to be happening. Nonetheless, she would very proudly announce that she was going to be in the 4-year old class now.

This morning when we escorted the children to their new classes, we left LK for last, so she could see each of them going to their new classes. And we made big deals of all of it too...because it is a big deal.

And then when Jas and I took LK, she just backed up against the wall in the hallway and said "I no wanya".

But when I took her hand and said I would go in there with her, she went very willingly.

And when she spotted hula hoops in the classroom and the teachers said she could use one, she turned to me and said,

"Bye, Mommy!"

WOW!
This little girl has come a long way in the last 6 months! I really didn't expect her to have any big issues today...but this surprised even me!

And on a slightly bittersweet note: This was the first new church year since 2005 that we have NOT had a child in Mrs. Charlotte and Mrs. Eve's 3-year old Sunday School class. (sniff, sniff)

  1. Sounds like it's time to add to the family so you can have someone in the 3-year old class!
Congrats to the kids graduating to new classes! How exciting!
