April Showers bring May flowers

This morning, before the sun came up high enough to cause squinty eyes, we made our annual pilgrimmage to "The Field"...

...all the way at the end of our street.

Thankfully, this beautiful field of flowers is located right down the street from us on some land owned by our church.

Right around Mother's Day every year, the flowers have bloomed into a picture perfect state.

We love to snap pics of our precious kiddos in this field every year.

It allows us another neat way of seeing tangible evidence of our children's year-over-year growth - just like our annual azalea pictures.

And, of course, this was Lily Kay's first year in "The Field".

I think she enjoyed it.

And next year, we'll have proof, in all it's yellow blooming glory, of how much she is growing right before our eyes.

Some years we did a better job than others of taking pictures in the field at just the right time.

In 2009, the flowers were already a little past their prime.

But even given that...I will always treasure the pictures we snapped of all the China cuties in our little town anyway.

In 2008, we snapped Daniel's first pictures in "The Field."

Check out his chubby little cheeks.

And his impish grin.

In 2007, we only had two cuties to snap pictures of...but we were only weeks away from bringing our precious Daniel home.

The 2006 pictures are conspicuously absent. Somebody mowed "The Field" at the wrong time that year...and the flowers never bloomed. (Sniff, sniff)

And in 2005, when she was still only 1-year old, we captured our first pictures of Elisabeth in "The Field".

"Precious" personified.

After looking back over all these pictures...I think I'm going to go have a good cry. Please excuse me...
