A couple of the children reached up to Jason and called him "baba" (daddy).
I don't feel comfortable sharing pictures and descriptions of what we saw today. Suffice it to say it was moving, profound...heartwrenching. The children are obviously well cared for, loved even. But there is only so much a handful of caregivers can do for 120 children. Every child deserves his/her own parents.
Not everyone is called to help orphans by adopting one...but everyone IS called to help orphans.
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..." (James 1:27)
There are, of course, children in need ALL OVER the world, including the US. These are just some of the organizations that I'm familiar with because of our involvement with adoptions. You could sponsor a nutrition program for a child, or help with a much-needed surgery, or make it possible for a child to be placed in a foster home (instead of the orphanage), etc...please pray and see how the Lord might want you to help.
So blessed,
Joli
